Acupuncture, technique of medical treatment, based on traditional Chinese medicine, in which a number of very fine metal needles are inserted into the skin at any of some 800 specially designated points.
In China it has long been used for pain relief and treatment of such ailments as arthritis, hypertension, and ulcers. It is also now used as anesthesia for childbirth and some surgery.
(Unlike conventional anesthesia, it does not lower blood pressure or depress breathing.) Acupuncture is said to work by manipulating the body's electrical energy flow, allowing the body to balance and heal itself, e.g., by stimulating the production of endorphins in cases of chronic pain.
U.S. research has focused on the use of acupuncture in pain relief and anesthesia, to counteract the side effects of chemotherapy, and as an aid in reducing the cravings of former smokers and drug addicts.
This Acupuncture would go great with:
a) The "Ben Wa Balls - Yin Yang Symbol (Lrg)"
or
b) the "Ben Wa Balls - Stainless Steel (Large)".
