This scroll features one of the most painted subjects in Oriental paintings—bamboo. This one shows the bamboo against the soft moon in the background. Painting bamboos requires very few but deliberate brush strokes and is one of the more difficult subjects to paint.
This scroll is painted in black ink on rice paper with traditional cloth matting. Scrolls are often hung in pairs.
Bamboo is the symbol of good wishes and paintings like this are often given as gifts.
This painting is in the traditional black ink.
This Scroll – Bamboo in the snow would go great with:
a) The "Scroll--Winter Mountains"
or
b) the "Scroll--cranes".
